Nezhukumatathil named Orion magazine's poetry editor

English Professor Aimee Nezhukumatathil has been named Orion magazine's new poetry editor.

Ms. Nezhukumatathil has published numerous poems in Orion over the years and is the author of three award-winning books of poetry, most recently, "Lucky Fish" (Tupelo, 2011). With Ross Gay, she co-authored "Lace & Pyrite," a chapbook of nature poems (Organic Weapon Arts, 2014). Awards for her writing include the Pushcart Prize and an National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in poetry.

Her writing has also appeared in Tin House, Poetry, American Poetry Review and the Best American Poetry series. She is professor of English at Fredonia, where she teaches creative writing and environmental literature, and a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship and Creative Activities at Fredonia

Nezhukumatathil has also served as the Distinguished Visiting Writer-in-Residence at University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s M.F.A. program and has twice served as a faculty member for Kundiman, the Asian American writers’ retreat.

Orion is a bimonthly magazine that publishes writing and art features that explore the connection between nature and culture. It has won numerous awards, was a finalist for the National Magazine Award in 2010 and 2013, and is based in Great Barrington, Mass.
