For the eighth consecutive year, SUNY Fredonia seniors in mathematics education were invited to present their lesson plan ideas at the annual Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State (AMTNYS) conference.

Thanks to funding from the mathematical sciences department, the dean, and SUNY Fredonia's Office of Student Creativity Activity and Research and Creativity, 31 undergraduates were joined by six graduate students in preparing and presenting three well-attended sessions. In addition, five students hosted the day-long “Make It –Take It” activities that offered ready-made manipulatives for K-12 math teachers.

Highlighted lesson topics included fractions with Gak (as made famous on Nickelodeon), activities for algebra tiles, innovative math magic, and applications of graphing calculator software. Mathematics Professors Tedi Cox, Keary Howard, Bob Rogers, and Joe Straight helped to prepare students for their presentations.
