Aaron Carlson

Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) put his name in the record books of Fredonia's storied diving program on Saturday, breaking the school record in the 1-meter springboard (11-dive format) against Trinity University in Texas.

Carlson's first-place score of 529.95 was better than Ryan Fuller's previous record of 528.90, and an improvement on his personal-best from 2015 SUNYAC Championships, 502.95.

Rafael Santiago (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) finished close behind Carlson in second with a score of 512.50. Phil Tubbs (Jamestown/Jamestown) took third at 470.70, and Jacob Storms (Owego/Owego) fourth at 420.15. Carlson, Santiago, and Tubbs all delivered NCAA qualifying marks.

Competing in the 3-meter springboard, Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) finished third with a score of 482.65. Samantha Kowalewski (Cowlesville/Attica) took fourth with 449.40 points, and Julie Coomer (East Aurora/Iroquois) was seventh with 413.45 points. All three women posted NCAA qualifying scores.

"All the divers dove very well this weekend against a team that has produced many All-Americans and three national champions on the women's side," head coach Fuller said.

The swimming and diving teams will travel to Brockport for head-to-head competition with the Golden Eagles at 1 p.m next Saturday.
