African dinner to precede performance by Saakumu Dance Troupe at Fredonia

An African dinner and performance by the Saakumu Dance Troupe from Ghana, West Africa, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Sponsored by the Percussion Guild, a Student Association group, the dinner is slated for 6:30 p.m. in the Williams Center, to be followed by an 8 p.m. performance by the dance troupe in Rosch Recital Hall. Bernard Woma, artistic director of Saakumu, is an alumnus and former adjunct professor at Fredonia.

Dinner tickets, which include free entrance to the performance, must be purchased by Tuesday, Feb. 9 at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center. Fredonia students may purchase dinner tickets with meal points at the student rate of $16.87. Non-student dinner tickets are $20.

The dinner menu will include options for vegans and “chickaterians.” Popular dishes include vegan Red Red and Plantains, Fish and Okra soup, and Joloff Rice with Chicken, mango, pineapple and papaya fruits.

The non-student ticket to the dance performance is $5 in advance at the ticket office or at the door. Students will be admitted free to the performance with their student ID.
