Concerto Competition winner and clarinetist Tyler Pfalzer.

School of Music Concerto Competition winner and clarinetist Tyler Pfalzer will be featured at the College Symphony Orchestra’s final concert of the academic year on Saturday, April 23, 8 p.m., in King Concert Hall.

Under the direction of Dr. David Rudge, the orchestra will perform works by Debussy, Janacek, Elgar and renowned American composer Dr. Jennifer Higdon, who will be in residency at Fredonia (see related article). Mr. Pfalzer, of Kenmore, is completing his senior year with majors in Music Education and Music Performance and is a member of Dr. Andrew Seigel’s clarinet studio.

“Tyler is a wonderful and hard-working student, a fantastic musician and an all-around great human being," Dr. Seigel commented. "He is equally at ease performing as soloist and in ensemble settings. I am confident that in his future roles as performer and teacher, he will brighten the world through his music."

Hayden Denesha, a graduate student studying with Dr. Rudge, will also conduct the orchestra.

The concert is free and open to the public.
