Zachary Moore, a senior Computer and Information Sciences major from Lancaster, N.Y., has been named Student of the Month for May by the Office of Residence Life.

He was nominated for the award by Mark Mackey, interim ResNet coordinator and Veterans Affairs administrator, based on his academic excellence and outstanding service in the ResNet office.

“He has excelled in taking on the new responsibilities of senior tech and has willingly passed on his experience and knowledge to the new employees. He has been a great asset helping me with my responsibilities,” Mr. Mackey said of Moore.

In addition to serving at ResNet, Moore is active in the Coalition of Computer Enthusiasts and Nerf Club, and considers his academic department to be his favorite part of Fredonia. “My professors have been amazing and the other undergrads are all amazing as well,” he said.

Moore has enlisted with the Navy as a Cryptologic Technician - Networks specialist, which requires an eight-year commitment. He has also put in for a commission as an Information Warfare or Information Professional Officer.

The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
