Rockefeller Arts Center presents an evening of Grammy Award-winning rock ’n’ roll featuring the piano stylings of Elton John and Billy Joel to kick off the 2016-17 DFT Communications Pops Series.

“Piano Men: A Tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel” will be presented on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in King Concert Hall.

“Piano Men” stars Broadway veterans Craig A. Meyer (John) and Donnie Kehr (Joel). This talented duo faithfully recreates the look and sound of these music icons in this unique concert event.

Meyer won rave reviews in 2013 with his pops series performance in “Almost Elton John and the Rocket Band.” The seven-piece Rocket Band returns to back Meyer and Kehr in this performance.

Meyer is an award-winning singer/actor/pianist. On Broadway, he created the role of Clinton Badger in MGM’s classic “Meet Me in St. Louis.” He toured nationally in “Cats,” “Starlight Express” and Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”

His television and film appearances include guest-starring roles on “Necessary Roughness,” “Will & Grace,” “Good Morning Miami,” “Family Law” and “General Hospital.” Meyer has also worked with Alan Menken on Disney’s “Aladdin” and with Tim Rice and Elton John on “The Lion King.”

Kehr made his Broadway debut at 12. He has appeared in Elton John and Tim Rice’s “Aida,” co-starring with Toni Braxton.

His credits include a second Elton John show, as he played the “Scab and Posh Dad” in the original Broadway company of “Billy Elliot: The Musical.” Kehr also performed in national tours of “West Side Story” and “Jersey Boys.

Tickets are available through the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center, by phone at 673-3501 or online at

This event is sponsored by DFT Communications and WDOE and 96 KIX Country as part of the Lake Shore Savings Season.
