Korrin Harvey of North Royalton, Ohio, has been named Student of the Month for October by the Office of Residence Life.

Ms. Harvey was nominated for this award by Erin Willis, assistant director of Study Abroad and Student Exchange, for her positive contributions to the campus and community as the Lead Study Abroad Ambassador. Ms. Willis spoke of Harvey’s dedication to her academics and her campus involvement, noting, “As the Lead Study Abroad Ambassador, she is responsible for the communication to 16 other study abroad ambassadors. Additionally, she is always seen promoting study abroad in a professional way ΜΆ at the study abroad fair, she was given the great compliment that her presentation on her experience in Ireland had inspired a student to pursue studying abroad. In addition to her work with Ambassadors, Harvey is a student representative on the Global and International Engagement Council. She is currently working to bring more cultural programming to campus through one of the GIEC's subcommittees. She is consistently representing International Club at weekly international coffee hours and is a kind, positive role model for Fredonia's international students. She works very hard to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome here at Fredonia.”

Harvey is also Vice President of International Club. When asked her favorite thing about Fredonia, she said “I really love the international community we have on campus. Every week, I look forward to the coffee break that International Student Services puts on because there is always a different group of people, and it is just a great time.” In regards to her future, Harvey has applied to the Peace Corps. If she receives an invitation, she will leave in June for Benin, Africa, where she will be a secondary education English teacher for two years.

The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community. Those who would like to nominate a student should visit the online application.
