Fredonia hosts U.S. premiere of music from ‘Arctic Song’

The first performance in the United States of music from “Arctic Song,” a musical written by Denny Laine, a former member of the Moody Blues and Wings and a GRAMMY Award recipient, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 8 p.m., in Rosch Recital Hall.

Approximately 20 Fredonia student musicians will perform selections from “Arctic Song,” which calls attention to the growing problem of global warming through an adventure between an extra-terrestrial being and a Siberian environmentalist. The lone public performance of the music was given in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Laine, known to students from prior campus appearances, composed the musical over a 20-plus-year period.

Hail! Fredonia Records is hosting the performance. Tickets are $10 for students (with student ID) and $15 for community members, and are available at the Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center and also at the door.

Proceeds will support Hail! Fredonia Records events, including its philanthropy dinner in December.
