Gee coordinates symposium at GSA conference

Dr. Nancy Gee and her furry friend.

Department of Psychology Professor Nancy R. Gee organized a symposium on human-animal interactions in healthy human aging at the annual scientific meeting of the Gerontological Society of America on Nov. 17 in New Orleans.

Dr Gee's podium presentation was followed by a panel discussion involving distinguished researchers in the fields of human-animal interaction and aging. Gee and Dr. Megan Mueller of Tufts University then co-convened the inaugural meeting of the human-animal interaction interest group within GSA.

More than 3,600 international experts and partners from academia, industry and government from the United States and foreign countries attended the five-day gathering to exchange information and discuss the broader role of aging science. “New Lens on Aging: Changing Attitudes, Expanding Possibilities” was this year’s conference theme.
