The first Fredonia home run of the season was struck by freshman Madison Cooley (Geneva) leading off the fourth inning while senior Khee Nance (Dunkirk), sophomore Cassie Herman (Maybrook), and senior Erin Mushtare (Oneonta) had two hits each. Freshman right-hander Katie Yudin (Liverpool) was the beneficiary to earn her first collegiate win in 4 2/3 innings of work. Fellow freshman Sam Seegar (North Tonawanda) relieved in the fifth and got an inning-ending strikeout to get out of a jam. Seegar allowed one hit over the final 2 1/3 innings.

Game 2 -- Fredonia 8, Shenandoah 0 (5 innings)

Highlights -- Dennis picked up where she left and sophomore right-hander Emily Shellenberger (Philadelphia, Pa.) tossed a five-inning shutout as the Blue Devils completed a sweep of their Saturday games and improved to 3-1. Dennis had two singles and three RBI in her first two at-bats to extend her streak to six straight hits. Nance and Lent stayed hot, too, with two hits each. Senior catcher Sarah Cuillo (Blasdell) also had two hits ... Shellenberger allowed three hits and struck out two as she picked up her first win of the season (1-0). Shenandoah (3-5) came into the game averaging just under 10 runs per game.

What's next? -- The Blue Devils are off until Thursday afternoon when they take on Nebraska Wesleyan, the first of 12 games during The Spring Games in and around Clermont, Fla.
