Friday's home softball doubleheader was designated "Strike Out Cancer Day" by the Fredonia Blue Devil softball team.

The Blue Devils wore pink jerseys and socks to signify their support in the fight against breast cancer. In addition, they dedicated the day to former SUNY Buffalo State head coach, the late Sandra Hollander, who coached for many years against Tony Ciccarello, the current Fredonia head coach.

Bengal pitching coach Pam Amabile, also an assistant on the staff of Hollander, threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Fredonia senior catcher and co-captain Maddy Stavish (Olean).

Proceeds raised Friday will benefit The Relay for Life of Northern Chautauqua County.
