Kerry Young tabbed October ‘Student of the Month’

Kerry Young, a junior from Lancaster, N.Y., majoring in Social Work with minors in Leadership Studies and Athletic Coaching, has been chosen as the October Student of the Month by the Office of Residence Life.

Aaron Marshall, Ms. Young’s’ internship supervisor and associate director of Recruitment in the Office of Admissions, nominated Ms. Young, who is very involved on and off campus, for the award.

Young is vice president of the Leadership Street Team, assistant coach for the Northern Chautauqua County Youth Hockey Association (NCCYHA) Steeler girls’ ice hockey team and a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society and Ultimate Frisbee Club. She also works as an intern with the Fredonia softball team and Office of Admissions, where she assists in planning open houses for prospective Fredonia students.

“After graduation, I plan on attending grad school to obtain my MSW at a highly recognized Social Work school,” Young said. Her career goal is to be social worker in a hospital setting or the foster care system.
