Repair Fair slated as part of Earth Month festivities

As part of Fredonia's Earth Month celebration, a new event, a Repair Fair, will be hosted on Monday, April 16, from 12:30 until 4 p.m. A full slate of Earth Month activities and opportunities, including an electronics recycling day, begins on Saturday, April 7, and continues through Sunday, April 22.

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to bring broken items in need of repair to the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, where experienced volunteers will assist with repairs. The volunteers bring the expertise and tools, and the owner of the broken item should bring any necessary replacement parts. Items to be repaired can include bikes, jewelry, clothing, wood/carpentry, small appliances/motors and lamps.

The campus community is encouraged to put an item back in service instead of throwing it away! For more information, contact Director of Environmental Health and Safety and Sustainability Sarah Laurie via email.

A session to make sun catchers out of plastic bottles will be held on Saturday, April 7, 1 p.m., at the Williams Center.

“Lungs,” a play about two people’s concerns over the environmental impact of having a child, will be performed Thursday through Saturday, April 12-14, 6 p.m., at “three man hill” adjacent to the Rockefeller Arts Center. Tickets are based on a donation.

No Impact Week, a week-long carbon cleanse with a different focus each day, will be held Sunday through Saturday, April 15 to 21. Emails outlining the theme for each day can be received by registering online.

A Campus and community electronics recycling event will be held on Saturday, April 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Ring Road near the campus Services Complex.

A beach cleanup at Point Gratiot will be held on Saturday, April 21, beginning at noon. All materials will be provided, though participants are encouraged to bring their own gloves and/or bags. Transportation from the campus will be provided. Participants are to meet at the Jewett Hall parking lot at 11:30 a.m.

A general cleanup to collect trash around campus and surrounding streets will be held on Sunday, April 22, beginning at noon.
