Keeler, Dennis earn conference honors in softball

Freshman Makenzie Keeler (Jamesville/Jamesville DeWitt) was named the SUNYAC's top secondbaseman, and senior Katelyn Dennis (Webster/Webster Schroeder) capped her record-setting career by earning Second Team All-SUNYAC.

Keeler was fourth in the league in both batting average (.400) and doubles (12). She was seventh in triples. Keeler was 44 for 110, and added 13 walks for a .472 on-base percentage, good enough for third in the conference. She also stole nine bases.

Her average, hits, doubles, triples, and on-base percentage led the team. She was second in slugging percentage (.591) and third in RBI (12). She turned in a .937 fielding percentage at second base and shortstop.

"One of the best freshman I have ever coached," said head coach Tony Ciccarello. "She was a leader on the field, which is not common for a freshman." Keeler was the only freshman to make the First Team.

Dennis eclipsed the Fredonia home run record this season. She cracked five round trippers to give her 14 for her career. She also holds the career mark with a .549 slugging percentage. She adds 30 doubles to her resume.

This season Dennis batted .391 with 11 doubles (sixth in the SUNYAC) and five homeruns (third). She was 43 for 110, and was one of the toughest outs, striking out only eight times. She led Fredonia with 28 RBI and a .937 fielding percentage at first base. She played all but one inning the entire season.

"She was my first recruit," said Ciccarello, "Making all conference is a fitting way to end her career."

Both Dennis and Keeler started all 35 games for the Devils.
