Fredonia’s Applied Communication Association (ACA) and Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) are co-hosting their 14th Fall Sweep on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The event is a part of the Office of Volunteer and Community Services’ “Days of Service,” in which students are given opportunities to get involved and give back to their community.

Fall Sweep begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Here, students are able to sign in, as well as buy tickets for basket raffles. Then, with their rakes and gloves ready, participants are released to help clear leaves from neighborhood lawns.

Each fall, approximately 700 students sign up, whether they are participating as part of a club or just by themselves.

“This is a very significant event to create a relationship with the outside community as well as the campus community,” said Sage Golisano, the vice president of ACA.

For those interested in signing up for Fall Sweep, students can visit the Office of Volunteer and Community Services in Williams Center Room S227 and pick up participation forms. Students can also contact ACA President Shaunna Rospierski at rosp0334@fredonia.edu or Coordinator of Volunteer and Community Services Joyce Smith at joyce.smith@fredonia.edu for more information regarding the event.
