The
Freedom to Act
More
than 200 students, faculty and community members attended a panel discussion led
by Gene Policinski, executive director of the First
Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University and host of the PBS show
"Speaking Freely," as part of a daylong event on Wednesday, April 13. Policinski
moderated a panel consisting of local print and broadcast media who addressed
the state of the First Amendment in the 20th century. Earlier in the day,
Policinski addressed a luncheon on campus. The program was sponsored by the Department of Communication, the
Interdisciplinary Program in Journalism, and the campus media.
