Panama, NY - Dug Well

Panama well water level in feet below land surface

Record at USGS exists from May 1949-August 1995 (see link); well dug prior to May 1949 by persons unknown

Characteristics: Non-pumping well, diameter 36 inches. Depth 32.5ft in 1949 and remeasured 29.5ft in 2001; hand-dug and stone lined.

Aquifer: Presumed to be ice age deposit of glacial till but not known for sure.

Remarks: Nearly complete record of tape or electronic measurements since 1949; there is a little-used nearby pumping well.
