Final Orientation for Fall 2013


Sunday, August 25, 2013 Fredonia Orientation

Orientation, Advising and Registration for all new students that did NOT attend the Summer Orientation or the Spring Into Fredonia program will take place on Sunday, August 25, 2013. 

Check-In will begin at 8:00 a.m. 1st Floor McEwen Hall, with Orientation, Advising and Registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. in McEwen Hall, Room 209.

There will be a $65.00 fee for the services and materials of this program.  This fee is added to your semester bill.

The forms below have been mailed to all new students that did not attend a previous orientation session.

Refreshments will be available. 

8:30 a.m.                     
Orientation & Advising Program Begins      
McEwen Hall, Room 209

Orientation, Advising and Registration will begin.  Departmental Academic Advising and Web Registration will be a part of this program. Students should be finished with orientation, advising and registration by approximately 2:00 p.m. so that the First Year students may attend New Student Convocation at 3:00 p.m. in King Concert Hall.

FSA & Administrative Services
McEwen 209
Members of the FSA and Administration will be available to present information on: Bookstore, Meal Plans, Student Accounts, and Student ID Cards.  This will be geared for Transfers, as Freshmen will have this session earlier that morning.

3:00 p.m.
New Student Convocation
King Concert Hall
This program will highlight SUNY Fredonia traditions and encourage all new students to "Be a part from the start!" This program is MANDATORY for all first year (Freshmen) students.

Mr. Adam Hino, Coordinator of Disability Support Services will meet with students interested in finding out about services for students with disabilities.

Full Opportunity Program (FOP)
Learning Center, Reed Library 4th Floor
Ms. Kimberly Mead-Colegrove, Director of the Full Opportunity Program will meet with students accepted into the program to discuss the services available to FOP students.

Additional Information

Residence Hall Students
You may check into the residence halls on Saturday, August 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Students should report directly to their residence hall for check-in.

Please be prepared to pay upon arrival the optional residence hall dues ($20).  Questions regarding residence halls should be directed to the Office of Residence Life at (716) 673-3341.

New students without a residence hall assignment should contact the Residence Life Office.

FREDCard, SUNY Fredonia Debit Account and Meal Plan Selection
ID cards, meal plans and SUNY Fredonia Debit Accounts will be available Saturday, August 24th from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 25th from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. located on the 1st Floor of Gregory Hall; Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  All students are required to have a FREDCard since it serves as your student identification, meal plan, SUNY Fredonia Debit Account, library and door access.

Health and Physician's Report
New and returning students MUST have their Health and Physician's report, which includes IMMUNIZATION information on file with the Health Center PRIOR to Orientation, Advising and Registration. Public Health law requires proof of immunization (for those students born after January 1, 1957) prior to registration at all colleges and universities in the State of New York.  Two Doses of Measles Vaccine are Required.  In addition, a Meningitis Information response form must be on file with the Health Center BEFORE classes begin. 

Health Insurance
Health Insurance is strongly recommended for all uninsured students.  However, ALL International Students are mandated to carry health insurance.  International students may contact the Office of International Education at (716) 673-3451.

The University's group insurance policy is available to students at cost and coverage would extend to August 22, 2014.  Information concerning the policy will be available in your Orientation packet.  Additional information is also available at www.uhcsr.com.

Transfer Students
Please have all official transcripts from all colleges attended sent directly to the Registrar's Office, located on the 1st Floor of Reed Library, prior to your arrival on campus.  A transfer counselor will be available on Sunday, August 25, 2012 to discuss transfer credit.  A complete transfer credit evaluation is necessary for proper advising.
