January Orientation 2013


Sunday, January 27, 2013 Fredonia Orientation

Orientation, Advising and Registration for all new Spring semester students will take place on Sunday, January 27, 2013. 

Check-In will begin at 8:00 a.m. 1st Floor McEwen Hall, with Orientation, Advising and Registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. in McEwen Hall, Room 209.

There will be a $65.00 fee for the services and materials of this program.  This fee is added to your semester ebill. 

 

All New Spring Semester Students MUST attend Orientation.
You may view your tentative class schedule through "Your Connection" on the Fredonia homepage.  You will confirm and/or adjust your class schedule with an advisor when you attend In-Person Registration on Sunday, January 27th.

If you do not attend Orientation, your class schedule will be dropped and you will be responsible for your semester bill.

Orientation & Advising Program Begins      
McEwen Hall, Room 209

Orientation, Advising and Registration will begin.  Departmental Academic Advising and Web Registration will be a part of this program. Students should be finished with orientation, advising and registration by approximately 1:00 p.m.

10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Brunch
Cranston Marche, University Commons
Food service will be available for purchase with your meal card, cash or credit cards.

12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Financial Aid Table
McEwen Hall 1st Floor Lobby
A representative from the Financial Aid office will be available to answer questions regarding the Spring 2013 financial aid delivery system.

4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Dinner
Centre Point
Food services will be available for purchase with your meal card, cash or credit cards.

Mr. Adam Hino, Coordinator of Disability Support Services will meet with students interested in finding out about services for students with disabilities.

Full Opportunity Program (FOP)
4th Floor Reed Library, Learning Center
Ms. Kimberly Mead-Colegrove, Director of the Full Opportunity Program will meet with students accepted into the program to discuss the services available to FOP students.

Additional Information

Residence Hall Students
You may check into the residence halls on Saturday, January 26th beginning at 9:00 a.m. Students should report directly to their residence hall for check-in.

New students without a residence hall assignment should contact the Residence Life Office at (716) 673-3341 before January 25th.

FREDCard, SUNY Fredonia Debit Account and Meal Plan Selection
ID cards, meal plans and SUNY Fredonia Debit Accounts will be available Saturday, January 26th and Sunday, January 27th from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. located on the 1st Floor of Gregory Hall; Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  All students are required to have a FREDCard since it serves as your student identification, meal plan, SUNY Fredonia Debit Account, library and door access.

Bookstore
Please note that the University Bookstore will be open on Saturday, January 26th from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, January 27th from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Health and Physician's Report
New and returning students MUST have their Health and Physician's report, which includes IMMUNIZATION information on file with the Health Center PRIOR to Orientation, Advising and Registration. Public Health law requires proof of immunization (for those students born after January 1, 1957) prior to registration at all colleges and universities in the State of New York.  Two Doses of Measles Vaccine are Required.  In addition, a Meningitis Information response form must be on file with the Health Center BEFORE classes begin. 

Health Insurance
Health Insurance is strongly recommended for all uninsured students.  However, ALL International Students are mandated to carry health insurance.  International students may contact the Office of International Education at (716) 673-3451.

The Unversity's group insurance policy is available to students at a premium of $902 and coverage would extend to August 22, 2013.  Information concerning the policy will be available in your Orientation packet.  Additional information is also available at www.UHCSR.com.

Transfer Students
Please have all official transcripts from all colleges attended sent directly to the Registrar's Office, located on the 1st Floor of Reed Library, prior to your arrival on campus.  Transfer counselors will be available on Sunday, January 27, 2013 to discuss transfer credit.  A complete transfer credit evaluation is necessary for proper advising.
