Brooks Memorial Hospital
529 Central Avenue

Brooks Memorial Hospital has been providing quality healthcare services to the residents of Northern Chautauqua County since 1898. Brooks, located in Dunkirk, NY, is a 99-bed, private, not-for-profit, community hospital. A healthcare team of more than 450 employees and 87 physicians ensure that area residents receive the best primary acute care available. Brooks Memorial Hospital is located approximately 2 miles from the SUNY Fredonia campus. For more information regarding Brooks Memorial Hospital, visit www.brookshospital.org.
SUNY Fredonia does not currently require students to have health insurance. It is strongly advised that insurance be maintained on all students to cover outside medical care and emergencies. Students should bring an insurance card to school with them. Many insurance plans limit services to your home area or require diagnostic tests and prescriptions to be ordered by your primary doctor. It is very important to know how your insurance works and if referrals are needed.
A student accident and health insurance program is available through the university for students not covered by other health insurance. The cost varies each year. You are strongly encouraged to consider the Student Accident and Health Insurance Program administered through American College Student Association (ASCA). You must first join www.acsa.com. You will be further directed to United Healthcare Insurance Student Resources and additional information may be found at www.uhcsr.com.
