Yet, it's not this success that makes them happy. In fact, it's the other way around:
happiness comes first, leading to greater success—for themselves, their workgroups
and their organizations.
The Professional Development Center is pleased to bring The Happiness Advantage to
the Fredonia campus. We are currently offering two methods of engaging members of
the campus community, through a book club and workshops.
The Happiness Advantage Book Club
The Professional Development Center and the Employee Assistance Program are pleased
to announce The Happiness Advantage book club. During the Fall 2014 semester we will
be reading “The Happiness Advantage” by Shawn Achor. Facilitated by Christopher Taverna
(PDC) and Susan Murphy (EAP), the book club will meet for four sessions to discuss
and learn from the techniques presented in the book.
All materials will be provided for the participants.
We will meet on the following dates, from 12:00-1:00pm in the PDC Bonsai Room: 10/2,
10/23, 11/13, and 12/11.

The Happiness Advantage Workshops
Go on a guided journey towards happiness using modules and content from Shawn Achor's
The Happiness Advantage.
The Happiness Advantage training video gives you a formula for improving productivity, overcoming challenges,
increasing cognitive abilities, and improving teamwork – all while improving your
mindset. This comprehensive training program is based on Shawn Achor's book, Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success
and Performance at Work.
Have your department or working group learn the methods of The Happiness Advantage
together. These sessions, facilitated by the Professional Development Center's Christopher
Taverna, can be tailored to meet your time requirements. Most common are 1 or 2 hour,
or half or full day sessions.
