Reaching OUT - Initiatives

Climate Survey- Most campus climate surveys may include questions related to LGBTQ, but they ask too few questions that can accurately access the true climate of LGBTQ students and faculty on campus. We modifiedexisting surveys to assist Dr. Ingrid Johnston-Robledo with creating a survey that assessed current policies and practices relative to LGBTQ issues on campus.

Webinar Series- The second initiative focused on presenting two webinars that disseminated the “best practices” of what we do here at SUNY Fredonia relative to LGBTQ support and training to other schools. Recordings of the webinars are available here: http://www.fredonia.edu/pdc/reachingout/webinars.asp

LGBTQ Summer Institute - The third initiative allowed colleagues to conference and present best practices from other campuses, encourage collaboration, provide professional development activities for faculty and staff, and bring expertise to augment education efforts to date. The Summer Institute included two main speakers and several 50-minute round tables

Session topics included but not limited to the following:

  • Curriculum Infusion of LGBTQ
  • Research and Scholarship on LGBTQ issues
