Each participant will be expected to meet the following criteria throughout their participation in the project:

  • Maintenance of a GPA of at least 3.0 for each course during the semester for which reimbursement is requested.
  • Active, responsible, and systematic involvement with your TESOL advisor, to ensure documentation that the courses for which you are seeking reimbursement are required.
  • Timely and complete submission of all application, reimbursement, and other required reporting paperwork (per schedules to be provided upon notification of acceptance in the project).
  • Review of the project ANGEL site on at least a once-a-week basis.
  • Participation in all special project offerings (e.g., professional development workshops, job fairs, etc.).
NOTE: Inservice teachers may be exempted from certain events at the discretion of and after discussion with the Project Director.
  • Reporting of your employment and volunteer history with students who are English language learners (a) during the period that you are funded under the project; (b) for a minimum of two years following any semester in which you are funded; and (c) one year following graduation.
  • Adherence to the standards set by SUNY Fredonia and the School of Education for student disposition. Reimbursement for partial tuition costs and for the costs of required textbooks will be made, contingent on the following:
  • Maintenance of a GPA of at least 3.0 for each course during the semester for which reimbursement is requested.
  • Completion of the course(s) for which reimbursement is (are) requested; note that reimbursement will NOT be made for courses receiving an "Incomplete" grade, nor for courses that you dropped or from which you have withdrawn. (Note that – for Incompletes – final grading and submission of reimbursement requests must conform to an individual agreement addendum that will be prepared to meet specific conditions).
  • Original or copy of bill (mailed to each SUNY Fredonia student) showing breakdown of tuition costs.
  • Evidence from your TESOL advisor that the courses for which you are seeking reimbursement are required.
  • For required - not recommended - textbooks, proof of purchase (i.e., original receipt required) from the SUNY Fredonia bookstore or other source, for TESOL advisor approved required courses.
  • Timely and complete submission of reimbursement requests, per the formats that you will receive when you are notified of your Project ELA acceptance. (Note that LATE submission of requests may not be honored.)
  • Participation in all special project offerings (e.g., professional development workshops, job fairs, etc.).

At the time of processing, a reimbursement deduction of $100 is imposed for each event or day that is missed without prior approval of the Project Director (Ex: 1 day event =$100 deduction, 2 day event = $200 deduction).

You must attend AND sign the attendance sheet to receive credit.
  • Availability of federal funding for Project ELA (determined on a semester-by-semester basis).

Please note that non-adherence to any of the above-cited standards will constitute sufficient reason to make the student ineligible for funding through or participation in Project ELA.
