Mary Louise White Visiting Writers' Series
presents a poetry reading by Gabriel Welsch: 7
p.m., G26 McEwen Hall. Gabriel Welsch is a former garden
designer whose poems, stories, essays and reviews have
appeared in dozens of magazines and journals. He is a
recipient of the Pennsylvania Arts Council Individual
Artist's Fellowship for Fiction, and was the inaugural
Thoreau Poet in Residence at the Toledo Botanical
Garden. Questions and answers and a book signing
will follow. Most of the poets' books are available
at the campus bookstore.

Visiting Artists Program presents Richard
Felton, Graphic Designer: 8:30 p.m., 209 McEwen
Hall. The topic of his presentation is “Future
Tense: Connecting the past, crashing into the
future.” From 1979 – 84 Richard Felton was a senior
designer for the New York design firm, Anspach Grossman
Portugal; after which he established his own New York
based design consulting firm. He has received awards for
identity programs for Sun Company, Texaco, the New York
Stock Exchange, Price Waterhouse and Tiffany & Co.
His work has been featured in numerous design
publications as well as in Time magazine.
Richard
Felton began his association with The University of the
Arts in Philadelphia in 1974. In 1999 he became a
full-time faculty member, addressing professional and
pragmatic concerns in the senior level Problem Solving
course, junior level Communications Studio, and
sophomore level Design Systems. He is currently Chairman
of the Graphic Design Department. Free and open to the
public.

JSU at Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance
Service): 10:30 a.m. Jewish Community Center of
Greater Buffalo. The Jewish Student Union will be
traveling to the Jewish Community Center of Greater
Buffalo to attend the annual Yom Hashoah
Service. This is the day that Jews and others
throughout the world remember the six-million Jews and
five-million others who perished in the Holocaust. JSU
will be leaving the Williams Center at 9am
(transportation TBA) and returning at approximately 1

Matzo Ball – Jewish History Month Closing

Multipurpose Room. The traditional "Matzo Ball"
was moved from the opening ceremonies to the
closing ceremonies for Jewish History Month, due to the
Passover Holiday. Entertainment by the “12 Corners
Klezmer Band" from Rochester, N.Y. Klezmer is a
type of Eastern European Jewish folk music. Also
featuring traditional Middle Eastern food: falafel
accompanied by salad, chips (french fries), dessert and
beverages.
