SIFE helps Shorewood look for new members

A team of marketing students has kick-started a campaign for Shorewood Country Club. SUNY Fredonia students, all taking the course taught by Professor Joseph Izzo entitled, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), are aiming to increase membership at the club, especially of a younger age group. Team members are Daniel Mazurkiewicz, Jessyca Riehle, Kevin Riley, and Kevin Scully.

New Poetry and Recent Readings
Aimee Nezhukumatathil (English) was invited to read for the Academy of American Poets Forum in October.  She was also the Distinguished Writer-in-Residence at Arizona State University in September and was a visiting writer at Western Washington University in October. Her new poems were recently published in the Fall 2007 issues of two literary journals: Prairie Schooner and TriQuarterly.

Women, Rock & Soul to be held Dec. 8

The Women's Student Union and the Women's Studies Program at SUNY Fredonia have teamed up again this year to host the 12th  "Women, Rock & Soul," event, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10 p.m. at Ellicottville Brewing Company in Fredonia.

Get ready for annual Campus-Wide Donation Drive

On Friday, Dec. 7, volunteers will sweep the SUNY Fredonia campus collecting donations for the annual effort to benefit the local agencies of the Holiday Caregivers Coalition.  

Learn to use AEDs

The AED (automated external defibrillator) Program at SUNY Fredonia is moving forward. Over one hundred AED units (including mobile ones) have been installed and placed strategically throughout the university community.

AmeriCorps is part of an independent federal agency created to connect Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their communities and their nation. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $4,725 to pay for college, graduate school, or to pay back qualified student loans. Members who serve part-time receive a partial Award.

International Brown Bag Luncheon presents, "Teaching and Learning in Namibia: The Fulbright Senior Specialist Program;" noon to 12:50 p.m., Fenton Hall English Reading Room (Fenton 127).  In the third of a series of presentations by Fredonia Fulbright recipients, Ted Schwalbe (Professor and Chair, Communication) will discuss his summer in Namibia and the Senior Specialist Program. This program is very different from the traditional Fulbright program and ideal for those who cannot leave for a full semester.  Learn about Fulbright opportunities as last year's Fulbright recipients share their experiences with you.  Drinks provided; bring your lunch or a snack!
