SUNY Fredonia School of Music to offer
annual Summer Choral Music Program

5/3/05

Young singers will have the opportunity to work with some of the top voice instructors in the region this summer as the State University of New York at Fredonia School of Music hosts its annual Summer Choral Music Program from Sunday, June 26 through Saturday, July 2.

The Summer Choral Music Program is administered by Dr. Donald Lang, conductor of the acclaimed Fredonia Chamber Singers and Director of Choral Activities at SUNY Fredonia. Daily activities will include classes in music theory, voice, ensemble singing and choral performance. Music theory will be taught at all levels, from beginner to advanced, and will feature instruction in sight-singing and music technology. Voice classes will be kept small and will focus on such concepts as breathing, resonation, diction and interpretation, among many others. Ensemble singing will show students how performing with a group can also improve one’s abilities as an individual, and the Summer Choral Music Program Chorus will allow participants to work under the direction of a series of distinguished instructors.

The Summer Choral Music Program is open to students entering grades nine through 12. Registration for the Summer Choral Music Program is $485 and will cover the cost of tuition, housing, meals, music and ensemble and recital fees. Commuter tuition is $260 and does not include the cost of housing or meals. Students are encouraged to bring an alarm clock, radio, swimsuit, towel, tennis rackets and footwear, rain gear, board games for free time and spending money.
