Recipients of the 2005 State University of New York at Fredonia President’s Award for Excellence – Professor of Communication Joseph C. Chilberg, Director of Purchasing Patricia W. Lefferts and Supervisor of Custodial Services Jacqueline A. Grant – were honored in a luncheon ceremony on Friday, April 15 in the Williams Center.
 
Dr. Chilberg has served as Professor of Communication at SUNY Fredonia since 1987 following previous stints at Ithaca College, Utica College of Syracuse University, the University of Notre Dame and Illinois State University. Dr. Chilberg completed his post-graduate studies at Ohio University and also holds degrees from Illinois State University and the University of Corpus Christi.
 
Ms. Lefferts has been a member of the SUNY Fredonia campus community since 1978, when she joined the Accounts Payable and Student Accounts staff as a clerk. Since that time, Ms. Lefferts has advanced through positions as Payroll Program Aide and Assistant Director of Purchasing before earning her present title as Director of Purchasing, where she is responsible for the administration and management of over $6 million in annual expenditures. She is an 11-year member of the SUNY Purchasing Association and the National Association of Educational Buyers.
 
Ms. Grant has worked in the SUNY Fredonia Custodial Department since 1979 and earned the position of head supervising janitor in 1993. She oversees a staff of four supervising janitors and 85 full- and part-time employees as well as additional seasonal work-study students.
