Daniel Tramuta named to associate VP for enrollment,
new position at SUNY Fredonia

Mar. 1, 2005

Following a national search, SUNY Fredonia announced that Daniel Tramuta of Fredonia has been named associate vice president for enrollment services, a new position that was established to coordinate services related to student recruitment, enrollment and retention.

"Mr. Tramuta has the knowledge, background and vision to effectively lead the campus in this critical student affairs position," Vice President for Student Affairs David Herman said.

Mr. Tramuta has extensive experience in financial aid services and has overseen both the admissions and financial aid offices during the past two years. During that time, SUNY Fredonia has continued to improve the quality of each entering class and overall campus enrollment. In a survey administered in 2003, students ranked the Fredonia financial aid office highest among the SUNY comprehensive colleges. Fredonia’s financial aid office has also been a leader in SUNY in implementing computerized systems such as Banner, and other electronic services.

Mr. Tramuta completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education at SUNY Fredonia, and began his career there. He was formerly a residence hall director, assistant varsity basketball coach and varsity men’s tennis coach. In 1986, he was promoted to senior financial aid advisor, and then, in 1992, associate director of financial aid. In 1998, he took the helm as interim director of financial aid and was named director of that office in 2001. In January 2003, the university reorganized and appointed Mr. Tramuta to a leadership post as the interim director of both admissions and financial aid.

Mr. Tramuta has been a frequent presenter on the topic of financial aid services and admissions at state meetings of SUNY admissions and financial aid professionals, and at area high schools. "Dan is highly committed to SUNY Fredonia," Dr. Herman said. "SUNY Fredonia is fortunate to appoint someone with Mr. Tramuta’s dedication and willingness to serve the many needs of students."
