Harlem Quartet
Fri., Sept. 28 at 8 p.m., Rosch Recital Hall
Harlem Quartet advances diversity in classical music while showing off an exciting repertoire that includes minority composers. The members of the quartet are not only performers, but teachers and orchestral collaborators as well. Since its public debut at Carnegie Hall in 2006, the quartet has thrilled audiences in 47 states as well as in the U.K., France, Belgium, Brazil, Panama, Canada and South Africa.
The Hillman Opera
Don Giovanni
Nov. 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 11 at 2 p.m., Marvel Theatre
This fully-staged production of Mozart’s masterpiece will feature the talented students from the School of Music in three performances. Based on the legend of Don Juan, Don Giovanni had its premiere in 1787. It blends comedy, melodrama and elements of the supernatural.
Fredonia Chamber Choral Festival
Sat., Feb. 16 at 4 p.m., King Concert Hall
Stacey Gibbs, a Michigan-based composer known for his arrangements of spirituals, will be the clincian for this year’s event, which features the Fredonia Chamber Choir, Fredonia College Choir and the Fredonia Camerata.
