Minimum System Requirements:
There are minimum standards required for computers that will be used on ResNet. These standards have been established to ensure your computer will work on ResNet. Most current personal computers will easily connect to ResNet once a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet card or adapter has been installed.
For this upcoming semester, your computer should have one of the following as a minimum system configuration. Current versions of the following operating systems and hardware are highly recommended. Computers that do not meet these system requirements will not be supported by the ResNet staff, and in some cases may not work at all on the ResNet network.
An Intel-compatible microcomputer (IBM PC or compatible) with at least:
- 1.0Ghz processor
- 512 MB RAM
- 40 GB Hard Drive with at least 5GB available
- 24X CD-ROM drive
- Windows XP SP2 or Newer
- 10/100BaseT Ethernet adapter
NOTE: Windows ME and below are not supported by ResNet.
An Apple Macintosh computer with at least:
- G4 1Ghz or higher Processor
- 512 MB RAM
- 40 GB Hard Drive with at least 5GB available
- Mac OS X or higher
- 10/100BaseT Ethernet adapter or transceiver
Users with another operating system, e.g. Intel-compatible computer running Linux, other Unix-based computer, etc. should e-mail resnet@fredonia.edu or contact ResNet by phone at 673-3668 for questions concerning minimum standards.
