Smith-Viggiani Scholarship

The Smith-Viggiani Veterans Scholarships will benefit four veterans who are undergraduate students at SUNY Fredonia annually. Each student will receive a non-renewable $5,000 scholarship for the academic year, with the funds applied to the cost of attending SUNY Fredonia. To be eligible for the Smith-Viggiani Veterans Scholarship, the student must be a veteran or a dependent of a veteran, be receiving federal veterans’ educational entitlements, exhibit academic merit and financial need as determined by the student’s FAFSA. Minimum academic requirements for consideration are a 90% unweighted high school average, and an 1150 SAT or 25 ACT score. Please note that this is a non-renewable scholarship which may be renewed pending the annual verification of funds received from the donor and provided the academic and financial criteria are met by the scholarship recipient. The scholarship recipients may be encouraged by the Veterans Affairs Coordinator to reapply annually as long as they were a full-time student, maintained a 3.25 GPA, and are making normal academic progress towards graduation. The ideal recipient of this scholarship would be an incoming freshman with academic ability, and with financial need that is not adequately covered by veterans’ educational entitlements. Prospective students must apply through the SUNY Fredonia Veterans Affairs Office.
