Rush Information

What is Rush?
Rush is an opportunity for all girls interested in joining a sorority to come and meet the sisters and find out what a sorority is about. As well as to obtain an overall feeling of sorority life.
-
Formal Rush, which occurs in the Fall semester, consists of a week in which all ‘rushees’ have a chance to get together with all of the sororities on campus. Each sorority holds a “party” which takes place in the Williams Center, and educates ‘rushees’ about the sorority. Every sorority is different, and therefore attracts different types of people; having a formal Rush such as this allows girls to explore all of the sororities before committing themselves to just one particular sorority.
-
Informal Rush, which occurs in the Spring semester, also consists with the same type of rush “parties,” but rushees will only attend the parties of the sororities they choose to meet.
-
Every social Sorority on SUNY Fredonia’s campus partakes in fall’s formal rush and they each take a class in the fall. Sometimes, not all of the sororities take a new class in the spring semester.
-
Rush is open to all girls in SUNY Fredonia that wish join a sorority as well as any girl looking to broaden their horizons, meet new people and have some fun. There is no obligation when Rushing, if you decide while rushing that sorority life is not for you, there are no hard feelings.
-
When is Rush?
Rush takes place at the beginning of every semester, during the week following Activities night.
