The directive from College Senate regarding SUNY Fredonia Cheating, Plagiarism & Collusion Policy was discussed. It was decided that the AAC members will individually review the college catalog entries regarding plagiarism and cheating before the next AAC meeting. At that time the committee will draft an expanded policy defining and clarifying plagiarism and cheating. In addition, Joe Straight will take a request to the Chairs & Directors asking them to create addenda to specifically define individual department policy related to cheating and plagiarism. The AAC will then review the procedure for handling incidents of cheating and plagiarism, and bring its suggestions to the Senate by December. Among our concerns will be establishing a records file in the office of the Academic VP to centralize occurrences of plagiarism and cheating, as well as recording the individual department policies.

For future discussion and review, the AAC will suggest that an Ad Hoc committee be established to study the feasibility of an Honor or Ethics Code.

New Business:

It was suggested that the AAC look into the current policy of accepting 5, 4 and 3 as transfer scores for AP courses. Possibly the 3 should be reconsidered?

In addition, there is a concern about the acceptance of some high school courses for college credit when Fredonia is not the accrediting institution.

Meeting adjourned at 3:00 PM

Next meeting on Friday, October 6 at 2:00 PM
