The School of Business is the proud recipient of a new and prestigious scholarship provided by community leaders Victor A. and Corinne F. Rice of Buffalo, New York. The scholarship is in the amount of $10,000 to be awarded annually, renewable for four years, to a high school senior enrolling in the School of Business. An award of $10,000 for a fifth year will be made if the student majors in accounting. The student must maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and participate in the activities required of a business major. The awarding of the scholarship is competitive and will be made by a committee. In order to be considered for the scholarship, high school seniors who apply must do so by submitting the following by December 31, 2007:

  • A cover letter expressing why you are interested in the Rice Excellence Scholarship and describing your career and personal goals upon graduation from SUNY Fredonia;
  • A resume detailing your academic and personal achievements, community involvement and service, positions of leadership, and personal interests;
  • Two letters of reference, one of which should be written by an individual in a position to speak to your leadership abilities and potential;
  • A personal essay of no more than five pages discussing your connection to Western New York and your thoughts on the problems facing the region and their possible solutions.

Please mail this application and all application requirements by December 31, 2007, in single envelope to Dr. Mojtaba Seyedian, Interim Director, The School of Business, E336 Thompson Hall, SUNY Fredonia, Fredonia, NY 14063.
