Bio:
Dr. Joni Milgram-Luterman, MT-BC, is the director of Music Therapy and Assistant Professor of Music at SUNY Fredonia. She also holds the position of Music Therapist at the Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center. With degrees earned at Michigan State University (Ph.D. in Music Education with Music Therapy cognate, 2000; B.M. in Music Therapy, 1982)and the University of Western Ontario (M.M. in Music Education, 1997), she is a Board-Certified Music Therapist and a professional member of the American Music Therapy Association. Dr. Milgram-Luterman has been a music therapy clinician, supervisor, and educator in a variety of settings for over twenty years. Her clinical focus is geriatrics and rehabilitation, her research areas undergraduate music therapy education and rehabilitation. A member of the Mid-Atlantic Region (MAR) of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) government relations committee, she is a MAR alternate delegate to the AMTA assembly. Dr. Milgram-Luterman is a guest lecturer on music therapy for professional groups such as Palliative Care workers, Alzheimer and Autism professional and support groups, and school district music teachers. She frequently presents her work and facilitates workshops at music therapy conferences, and her article "Toward a disposition of music therapy expertise as expansion of the self" was published in the Canadian Journal of Music Therapy (Volume 6, Number 2) in 1999.
