Fringe Benefit Rates

The Office of Sponsored Programs funds the cost of its fringe benefits program by using four composite fringe benefit rates that is applied to salaries and wages paid on grants and contracts. The rates are negotiated annually with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is based on estimates of the average annual cost of the program provided to all employees as a group. Components of the fringe benefit rate are detailed in the table below.
