Individual Development Awards

UUP/State Labor Management
Professional Development Committee

Please note: information on the Individual Development Awards is provided as a service. The program is administered by Human Resources, not the OSP.

Program guidelines and application materials are available in both Human Resources (510 Maytum Hall, 3434) and the UUP office (W234 Thompson Hall, 3595).

The campus has received notice of an allocation from the UUP/State Labor Management Professional Development Committee to support activities commenced on or after September 1, 1999 and completed by August 31, 2000. The individual award program can be used to support such activities as:

• Research
• Curriculum or Instructional Material Development
• Workshops, Seminars, etc.
• Tuition
• Conference Participation or Attendance
• Preparation of Material for Publication
• Grant Proposal Development
• Professional Reading
• Other Work-related Professional Development Projects or Activities

The maximum award under the program is $1,000, or up to $4,000 if salary replacement or release time is required. Both full and part-time UUP represented faculty and staff members are eligible. Salary replacement requires approval and funding at the statewide level.

The campus deadline for application submissions is Wednesday, March 29, 2000. All materials must be received in the Human Resources Office by close of business on that day. There is no second round, as there was in 1998/99, so late submissions will not receive consideration, nor will incomplete ones. Please follow the guidelines carefully and be sure to include a current brief curriculum vitae.

Since the last award period, there have been some changes in the joint committee membership. It now consists of Dick Reddy, Carolyn Briggs, Franklin Krohn and Harry Watters for labor; Paul Schwartz, Randy Gadikian and Bernie Gerling for management.
