SUNY Fredonia received a $10,000 planning grant as part of a SUNY-Sloan Foundation grant that is supporting the development of Professional Science Masters (PSM) degrees and certificates throughout the SUNY system (www.suny.edu/psm).

The grant will support the development of a 15-credit post baccalaureate Professional Science Masters (PSM) certificate program that will focus on technical and entrepreneurial leadership within environmentally friendly "green" industries. The program curriculum will include a 9-credit science core, a 3-credit interdisciplinary Technical and Entrepreneurial Leadership course and a 3-credit Industry Practicum. The planning grant will support course development, administration of surveys to the business community and, the development of on-line resources.

The PSM certificate will attract SUNY Fredonia science and business graduates as well as professionals seeking to enhance their leadership skills and knowledge of green industries. The PSM certificate, which is being developed in cooperation with the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator and area business leaders, will eventually expand the into a Professional Science Master's degree program.
