ATTENTION INTERESTED HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS
AND PARENTS:
While we cannot duplicate the information provided
by the speakers at the February 6th meeting, here are some highlights
of what you need to know:
Speak with Guidance Officials at your school. Let
them know that you are interested in applying to the program.
Applying to 3-1-3
The application process begins now until first week
of May – or so. Students were encouraged to fill out the paper
SUNY application. Your school Guidance Office should have copies. To
find out what criteria are used to determine admission into the 3-1-3
Program, contact Mr. Michael Bleecher, Admissions Counselor, at 673-3251
or you can email him at Michael.Bleecher@fredonia.edu
What do I take?
The minimum number of credits students have to take
in order to be in the program is six (6). Students generally take 2 courses
in the fall and 2 courses in the spring. You can take more, but it depends
on your high school schedule. Student schedule will depend on high school
requirement, interest and seat availability in college courses. The fall
semester runs from the end of August until the second or third week in
December. The spring semester runs from the third week in January through
the third week in May.
There are a variety of reasons students participate in 3-1-3; to get
ahead in college credit, to experience college academic life and experience
a challenge. The best thing you can do is to speak with students from
your school who are currently participating.
Paying for 3-1-3
There is no financial aid for 3-1-3 students. Please go to http://www.fredonia.edu/admin/studentaccounts/rates.asp
for a look at tuition and fees. 3-1-3 students pay per credit hour. The
tuition and fees currently posted are for the 2006-07 year. Chances are
these rates will increase. Questions regarding the financial aspect of
the 3-1-3 Program should be directed to Mr. Daniel Tramuta, Associate
Vice President of Enrollment Management. Please email him at Daniel.Tramuta@fredonia.edu.
Timeline
3-1-3 Director and advisors will begin school visits
beginning the third or fourth week in May. At that time students will
register for classes for the Fall 2007 semester. Feel free to contact
Liza Smith, Director, at 673-3550 with questions.
