Each year some students decide against becoming 3-1-3 students but still want to take a college course. These students apply with the admissions office to become visiting students. When accepted as visiting students, these people are not fully enrolled SUNY Fredonia students but may take one course each semester. Such students take their course after school or may be given permission by their high school to leave school for the one class. Occasionally the high school will also grant permission for a student with a particular interest to substitute the college course for a high school requirement. Any such decision is entirely in the hands of the high school.

Visiting students who decide to continue at SUNY Fredonia after high school graduation need to go through the regular application procedure in the early spring of their senior year. Students interested in this option may contact the 3-1-3 director or the SUNY Fredonia admissions office.
