Access and Opportunity
The office of Disability Support Services for Students (DSS) coordinates those services essential to providing students with disabilities the opportunity to be successful at SUNY Fredonia. DSS provides support services and reasonable accommodations which provide students with disabilities equal access and works to ensure that “no otherwise qualified individual with a disability shall, solely by reason of his or her disability, be excluded from participating in any of...the activities, courses, programs, or benefits” of the college.
Eligibility for Services
Students with documented disabilities must self identify with the office of Disability Support Services for Students and provide documentation of a condition/impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities. DSS determines eligibility and appropriate accommodations on a case-by-case basis.
Guidelines for disability documentation are available at the DSS website. These guidelines are provided in the interest of assuring that documentation is appropriate to verify eligibility and to support requests for reasonable accommodations, adjustments, and/or auxiliary aids or services on the basis of disability.
All documentation is confidential and should be provided to the office of Disability Support Services for Students. Students are responsible for the costs associated with obtaining documentation.
