Notetaker Accommodations

In an effort to move away from being dependent upon peers, the Office of Disability Support Services uses notetaker software for students with notetaker accommodations, once they are approved by the Office of Disability Support Services and are provided to students with documented disabilities that interfere with their ability to take notes in classes. Notetaker software accommodations are not considered a substitute for a student’s full participation in classes.

Students should contact the DSS office to request notetaker software accommodations each semester which accommodations are required. Students are encouraged to contact DSS to request access to the software during the first 2 weeks of classes.

Alternatives to Notetakers:

Smartpens: DSS has a limited number of SmartPens and notebooks available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis.
