Scholarships awarded through the College of Education are retention scholarships for current Education majors.

An “education major” means any student enrolled in any first time Initial Certification, Teacher Education program at any level (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior). This excludes students in programs requiring an initial certification for entrance, but includes students enrolled in any of these Education programs:

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • Early Childhood/Childhood Dual Program (EC/CH)
  • Childhood Education (CE)
  • Childhood Inclusive Education (CIE)
  • Music Education K-12
  • Adolescence Education: Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics, English, French, Spanish, Social Studies, Math & Middle Childhood Math
  • Adolescence Science Education (MAT)
  • Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL K-12)

(Undergraduate Catalog: Academic Policies: Student Classification)

Adolescent Education and Music Education majors should also consult their discipline departments for discipline-specific awards.

Recipients are announced each May and funds are applied towards tuition in the next Fall semester. Some scholarship awards may be applied half amount in Fall and half amount in Spring semester. Exception: graduating seniors not returning in the Fall will receive a cash award in May.

Any Education FACULTY may nominate students for any award by completing this form and submitting it to the Office of Student Services.

“Faculty” includes tenured, tenured track, visiting professor, lecturer, adjunct, student teaching supervisor, and cooperating teacher.
Some awards have criteria based only on the student teaching practicum.

Any student nominated by faculty will be asked to complete the application form.
