Insight Global Education - Thailand

Insight Global Education offers Semester in Development programs that allow students to take coursework at international universities and intern with locally-led organizations during their 12 week experience abroad. Insight's program in Chiang Mai, Thailand hosts up to 20 students from around the world.Credits are earned through university partners in and internships are run by partner organizations the focus on long-term, sustainable initiatives that will benefit the community.

University Courses

Students will take two classes (6.0 credits) focused on Human Rights, International Relations, and Ethnic Politics. All coursework is taught in English by accredited university faculty at Chiang Mai University. 

Internship Program

Students will intern four days per week with a local organization relevant to their interests and career goals. Internships are available in a wide range of sectors, including Education, Health, Human Rights, Refugee Issues, Gender and Economic Development, and Social Entrepreneurship. Students will work directly with Insight to finalize internship placements.


Students are hosted in housing that is maintained by Insight and in-country staff are available to assist students with culture shock and emergencies during the duration of the program.

Eligible Participants: Students must have completed at least one full year at their home campus and have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Application Deadlines:

  • Fall Semester: January 30
  • Summer Semester: January 30
  • Spring Semester: September 15
