SUNY Fredonia 2021 Honors ApplicationHonors Program ApplicationEligible students must complete this application, including a well-crafted, original personal essay, video or other creative response, to the prompt question below. Although SAT/ACT test scores are not required, if you have them, please submit them to the Admissions Office. *Eligible students refers to both first -year and transfer students. First year students are eligible to apply for Honors if they have maintained a high school GPA of 92 or above. Transfer students with a 3.3 cumulative GPA and at least 15 credits, are also eligible to apply, If your academic record does not meet these criteria, you may still apply but please tell us (either in the personal response or in a separate document) what test scores and GPA's can't capture about who you are, what you have achieved, and why we'd be missing out if we relied only on objective criteria (e.g., GPA and test scores). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout February and early March. Scholarships are still available, but applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible. Unfortunately, due to limited funds, current Fredonia students are not eligible for the the one-time scholarship totaling $1,500 ($375 per semester for four semesters). (Your answer will not affect your eligibility.)Personal Response: Over the past year, the world as we know it has suddenly changed. Whether we are discussing the global pandemic of racism or of COVID-19, for many, it has been scary and, for too many, economically or personally devastating. But it has also been a time of increased awareness and kindness, intensified community, and remarkably rapid transformation in how we interact--whether at work or at home; mobilize for change and share knowledge. We want to know more about your experience. You may tell us about any of the following: 1. How have you taken care of yourself and, perhaps, of your family or your geographical and/or virtual communities during this time? OR 2. What strategies have you used or developed to meet the challenges that have arisen? OR 3. What may have changed for you--or what have you consciously and intentionally learned, explored or changed--amid these unprecedented circumstances? Please connect your response to what you now want to do with your future, including your college career. Consider how the resources of the Fredonia Honors Program--and/or of the campus overall--can help you get there. What might we need to know or do better to support you on your journey to learn, lead, live @FredoniaHonors?Submission Format: Share your ideas and your sources of information with us by crafting a well-shaped, cohesive, original response. If it's a written essay, aim for about 1,000 words. If it's a video, podcast, or multimedia work, aim for about 5 minutes.
