Phased Retirement Program Request Form

As of March 1, 2024, SUNY Fredonia has adopted the SUNY Phased Retirement Program for UUP and M/C employees.

The Phased Retirement Program allows for those with a retirement-date in mind to request a "phased" approach to retirement to gradually reduce their appointment percentage (schedule/obligation), with a corresponding reduction in pay prior to their retirement date.

We encourage those interested in such a program to read through the program document first, as it may answer many questions you might have about procedure and expectations. There is also a corresponding application form.

Please ensure you have discussed the proposal with your supervisor(s) prior to submitting your retirement letter.

Once you've reviewed all this material, if you still have questions or wish to discuss further, please make an appointment with Human Resources.

No, this is not a paid retirement incentive program. Rather, this program allows for pre-planning your retirement around a date-certain, with some reduction in your schedule during that interim period to allow you some flexibility as you transition into retirement.

You must be retirement-eligible at the time you apply to participate in the program.

You will need to contact your retirement provider at the number below:
