SPRING 2024 INSTRUMENTAL (Non-String) AUDITION INFORMATION

One need not be a music major to audition for any ensemble. 

All Music Majors enrolled in curricular lessons are required to audition for ensemble placement.

Concert Attire for Bands:

Professional standards. Learn how to dress appropriately so you are prepared for the professional world.

Option One: Black tuxedo, white shirt, black bow tie, long, black socks and black dress shoes.

Option Two: Long (floor length or tea length) black skirt, black full-leg dress pants (no denim), long sleeves to the wrist, or a black dress meeting all specifications. No skinny leg pants. Long-sleeved black blouse/shirt or jacket. Simple jewelry. Full length dress meeting all of the above specifications is acceptable but no slits beyond mid-calf. (No décolletage, bare shoulders or necklines.) Black/off-black hose, black dress shoes, simple jewelry. Material must be opaque. Equal to a tux in quality.

All: Professional level required at all performances

**THE FOLLOWING AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, JANUARY 21 IN KING CONCERT HALL. WARM-UP IN PRACTICE ROOMS.

  • Auditions - King Concert Hall in Rockefeller Arts Center - enter through the connector between Mason and King, go through the connector double doors straight ahead to the double doors, walk straight backstage.
  • Only two people in the backstage area prior to auditioning and leave immediately after you play.
  • No talking backstage.
  • There will be three “stations" for you to play behind a screen.  Someone will let you know which station to use when you enter for your audition.  This will provide time for the aerosols to clear as we rotate the stations.
