De-Stress for Success offers a variety of activities

The Counseling Center and various other campus groups will host De-Stress for Success. The initiative includes a series of events, programs and workshops designed to help students to find ways to reduce stress in a healthy, productive manner, and gain the focus they need to succeed. Events, which are free to all students, will begin Thursday, May. 8, and conclude Friday, May. 16.

SUNY Fredonia students will have the opportunity to take a break from the business of finals exam week to pet and play with certified therapy dogs in Reed Library. The dogs will be present for the campus community Monday, May 12, and Tuesday, May 13, from noon to 1 p.m.

Mulcahy wins SUNYAC's 1,500 title

Fredonia sophomore Collin Mulcahy (Batavia, N.Y.) finished first in the men's 1,500 meters at the 2014 SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field chammpionship meet Saturday at Geneseo. Mulcahy's 3:57.02 was .85 of a second faster than the second-place runner, Alex Ngabo of Buffalo State, who came into the meet seeded No. 1 in the event. Mulcahy also finished seventh in the 800 meters (2:03.06) and earned 12 team points total, tied for eighth most among runners. He was named All-SUNYAC as a result of his first-place finish.

Students and Gershwin tunes featured in annual Commencement Eve Pops concert

The songwriting genius of George and Ira Gershwin will be in the spotlight when Rockefeller Arts Center presents its annual Commencement Eve Pops concert, “Gershwin’s Greatest Hits.” The concert will feature the Little Apple Big Band with eight student singers and four dancers on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in King Concert Hall.

Dr. Kim Tillery honored by professional organization

Dr. Kim Tillery of the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences was awarded the 2014 Distinguished Achievement Award from the New York State Speech-Language Hearing Association at its annual convention in Saratoga Springs on April 25.

Fredonia raises over $3,800 by going 'Bald for Bucks'

Students and faculty of SUNY Fredonia may feel a little extra breeze after going “Bald for Bucks” to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The event, staged by Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Sigma Kappa sorority and the Sophomore Class, raised over $3,800.
