Student Italian club to hold awards ceremony

Current and former students of the Italian club, Unione Italiana, will be honored by the SUNY Fredonia Italian Studies program and the local Chautauqua Italian-American Organization (CIAO) at an awards ceremony to be held on Friday, May 2, beginning at 3 p.m., in Fenton Hall Room 2157.

President’s Award for Excellence given at SUNY Fredonia

Five employees with 100 years of collective service at SUNY Fredonia were among those honored at the annual President’s Awards for Excellence and Service Recognition Luncheon. More than 250 people filled the Williams Center Multipurpose Room for the April 23 gathering that also recognized recent and soon-to-be retirees and awarded service pins and certificates to employees reaching milestone anniversaries.

Fredonia hosting the Governor's Citizen Preparedness Training Program Thursday

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, State Senator Cathy Young, State Assemblyman Andy Goodell, County Executive Vince Horrigan, Fredonia Mayor Steve Keefe, and SUNY Fredonia President Virginia Horvath invite employees to participate in the Chautauqua County Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program on Thursday, April 24 in the Williams Center. Students, faculty and alumni shine at GIS-SIG conference

Students from the Interdisciplinary Studies in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program participated with faculty and alumni in the 23rd Annual GIS/SIG Spatial/Digital Mapping Conference in the Rochester area held on April 15. Alumnus Bryan Wilson shared First Place with Dr. Ann Deakin and Professor Emeritus Douglas Shephard in the Professional Map category.

'Teach-in' to commemorate Earth Day Tuesday at the College Lodge

In celebration of Earth Day, April 22, SUNY Fredonia will host a daylong teach-in at the College Lodge in Brocton. Featuring presentations by more than 20 individuals, the program will include guided nature walks, lectures on a range of environmental issues, nature writing and drawing classes, sustainable refreshments, a percussion workshop and a drum circle, a meditation labyrinth, and other educational events. The events, all of which are free and open to the public, will start at 9 a.m. and run in 50-minute increments until 5 p.m.
